7 things you must to do in Talikud Island!!

A little background

Talikud or Talicud Island is an island at the back of samal Island, which is the third district of Samal. This island has 4 baranggays namely, Sta. Cruz, Dadatan, Linusutan and Cogon. Talikud Island has a total of 7,000 number of population. This island has an electricity from generator from 12noon until 4am only. The water they drink is from the rain and they filter it. In my own view as we visited with my elementary classmate last may 6, 2017, the island is not well established. We've been in some resort and their center which is sta. Cruz but I can't see a well placed established and organized in compare to babak, a barangay in samal. This placed is known with some spell, like love spell and poison- so better to grab some food from home or from Davao city area. This place is quite expensive and I will state or breakdown the cost after this paragraph. But the water is so clear that you can see clear your body when you swim. The fishes like nemo are there too if you will go for snorkelling. Some beach are white sand, some are with corals. And take note that it is not a good idea to do tracking as its really far if you are from dadatan to Sta. Cruz that will took you 4 hours. Beaches or resort that are known here are isla Reta which is a beach with fine white sand but crowded and with better amenities, isla bonita is good for scuba diving as they call it nice (pero pangpang jud sya besh), dayang- nice beach but little bit expensive bcs they have a lot of innovation like kubo, and babu Santa island (inatu pero tapad ra sa dayang ug baratu ra sya besh).

How to get to this island and how much it would cost you?

- go to sta. Ana port to have a ticket that cost 150 pesos if you want to be directed to the resort that you want and 60 pesos if you want to go to the ports of talikud island. They do have 3 ports and these ports are quite far to the resort so u have to pay another cost to take a ride of motorbike to your desired island that cost you to 60php to 100php.

In our case we choose to have the convenient way , so we took a boat (lantsa) name Enreyh to dayang and from dayang we walk to babu Santa island to build our cute tent.

FYI we bought a ticket around 12noon and get inside the boat around 1pm and it took us 3hours before it started to drive, which is pretty long to wait. And it is a one hour travel.

Top 7 things you must to do in Talikud Island!

1. Go to Babu Santa Island.
- it is not bcs we went here and stay here but this is the cheapest way and you can get same amenities as you want in compare in another resort. This resort too is not very crowded but the beach water is clear and the staff are lovely. It is true that the you think you own the resort.
Entrance fee: 75pesos
Tent corkage : 50pesos
Cottage: 600pesos
Water to shower not salt water :20 pesos per gallon
Ice :5pesos
Coconut: 35pesos
Match (posporo) : 5pesos

And you can buy ticket there to go back to sta. Ana port, same cost 150pesos.

2. Get a good tent for rain or shine weather
- its cold bcs it was raining at night when we are there, lucky our tent never fall down and the care taker give us another *trapal to cover out tent so its not that cold and windy. We bring blanket too so we are safe by cold.

3. Bring some food!
- it is safe if you have your food and ot is cheap. We bought foods and snacks in Davao city that cost us 3 to 225pesos each,  pork, bread, snacks, water, and drinks like San mig light and soju.

4. Try to walk or do hiking as much as u can.

- if you do, you can smell the nature by yourself. Its a little bit stiffy hills but for me, I like it. But we stop in the first stop and get a ride to sta. Cruz to get some pork for our lunch before we go.

5. Not all drivers are bad, look for Ernie Lastimosa C.
- sorry u forgot his last name dont worry I attached his photo here to let you check his face. We are lucky to have him as a driver. Supposedly it cost us 60pesos each to sta. Cruz but he gave us discounted price to make it 40pesos. And the highlight is he tour us in some beaches and resort for FREE! We went to Isla Reta, Enryh Port, mangrove area, market, and he eben give us time to have some photos. He also give tips and a little background to the island so its like a land tour.

The best realization kuya Ernie say,

Naai uban pasahero pangutan on kung musakay or aha sila pero di mutubag, tao ra pud bya mi. Mutubag diay ug dili musakay, lain kaayu dili tinggan, maglain jud akong buot ana ma'am.

6. Talk nicely!
- we do believe what we had cost versus we experienced is not even . we even get a special treatment from where we stay and for the tour even to the last boat we had to have free food not including to what we pay- is it because we communicate well. We may dress well human but we talk people nicely that we treat them we are the same. For us thats that reason they feel to give us special treatment bcs we never look down to them.

7. And lastly, Pray!
- I do not know if you are a believer of God or not but I know that you know that nature is not a human made that a human should be thankful of. Seeing sea lions, fishes, beautiful beach or ocean, amazing breeze from forest were all things that feel us at peace and relax. Without his creation we won't feel to be back us human.

P.s star gazing at night makes you see a lot of shooting star. Which is a way to know you what your heart really wants. You may see a lot of shooting star and wish but u realized, you wish are the same saying it in mind without having a second thought.

And lastly, this travel can't be possible without my dear friend dingla and Hedda. Shout out to these pretty ladies! We play monopoly as fishy but seriously in cards, after all this trip is so relaxing and worth it! Thank you!

Also thank you the people that God sent us to guide us in a right way. And the spirit to feel us peace and cool in any situation that make us contagious godly towards other people.
